The British weather is notoriously unpredictable. The British people, on the other hand, are notoriously predictable, and will talk about the notorious unpredictability of the weather at every opportunity. Today was a prime example of this, as we encountered sun, wind, rain, thunder and lightning, and sun again, all in 40 minutes of dog walking.
After a morning of beaming sunshine, Mother Nature had obviously decided we were too close to getting a tan, and sent a large black cloud to loom over us threateningly. We managed to make it to a patch of trees before the rain really started, but after 20 minutes of patient huddling it became apparent the flimsy leaves didn’t provide the best shelter anyway. The dogs were barking wildly at every crack of thunder but, as quickly as it had begun, the rain cleared. Not until we were soaked to the skin, of course. Despite this, I was thoughtful enough to take photos (wise move in the pouring rain…) of the scene before and after.
2:45pm - B.R. (Before Rain)

2:50pm - After Rain

There were literally 5 minutes between the two extremes - insanely inconvenient yet faintly (faintly!) amusing.

Yikes - I’ve heard that’s one of the drawbacks of Britain. Looks like on your next walk you’ll be wearing sunblock and carrying a rain-jacket with you! ;)

Whoa a 5-minute interval between sun and rain?? That’s insane! Has it always been like that there? The weather here has been HOT and getting hotter. Although… the other day it did rain some, but that’s one day, for about an hour :P The rest of the time it’s just hot.
